My personal life musings

On being in the Process

On being in the Process

The Process. The growth period. The transformation. We all love being at the end of it. It’s a badge of honor to be through with the Process. To be a survivor. A winner, even.
Being in the middle of the Process? Not so much.
I am in this Process right now, and I want to collect my thoughts on this and share it with you, if it’s something you need to hear. Read more...

The ways I've changed in 2 years of freelancing

The ways I've changed in 2 years of freelancing

September 1st was the second anniversary of me going out on my own and becoming a full time freelancer. On occasions like this, bloggers usually write recap posts where they share about how their business has grown, the goals they've achieved, how much money they’ve made and what their newsletter list growth was like... If you've been paying attention, you know that's not the real focus of this blog. I'm not living a six figure dream working 4 hours a day. I don't have an Amazon bestseller, or a course hundreds of people have gone through. But there are other things I value, that have improved so much in the past 2 years, and that's what I want to talk about. Read more...

When your passion becomes a chore (My love-hate relationship with design)

When your passion becomes a chore (My love-hate relationship with design)

My path hasn't been very straightforward, and I don’t see any signs of that changing... But one thing remained a constant for the past 15 years, and I wanted to write about it today – graphic design.
In this post I share the story of how I became a designer, what my first enthusiastic years were like, and how getting a job woke me up to a different reality. Good thing is, this story does have a happy end. Read more...

Everything I know about depression

Everything I know about depression

Six months ago, I could not have even fathomed that I would ever feel this good again. Six months ago I wasn’t able to imagine a brighter future or what would it take for me to reach it. Six months ago I was at my lowest of lows since 2008, and the years in between weren’t exactly Disneyland. Six months ago I was wondering, “what if this is the real me, and what if the happy, content me was a fake? What if there’s no way for me to ever feel better because that’s just my melancholic nature?” You may be wondering why I feel so compelled to write about depression, on my art and business blog no less? Letting go of old dreams

Letting go of old dreams

Writing about topics like these always invokes a lot of fear and self-worth issues in me, so I've refrained from publishing this post for a good long while. What if giving up on old dreams translates as being flaky, lazy and not able to finish anything? But usually when I get cold feet about publishing something, it turns out there is a bunch of people who feel exactly the same and are so glad to see someone else writing about it, because they too are a bit embarrassed to admit it. 20 Things You Might Not Know About Me

20 Things You Might Not Know About Me

This blog post is a part of the ’20 Things You Might Not Know About Me’ Blog Tag started by April from Blacksburg Belle. I'm not a fan of overly personal posts because I presume that wouldn't be interesting to most of you, but honestly — that's just my assumption, I don't know whether you'd like it or not! So I decided to do it and see how it goes :) Read more...

Job titles are overrated: My life as a Jane-of-all-trades

Job titles are overrated: My life as a Jane-of-all-trades

What do you want to be when you grow up? When I was a kid, I was changing my answer every week. I wanted to be an astronaut (of course), a paleontologist, an archeologist, a medical doctor, an actor, a molecular biologist... After a while I've settled on the fact that I'll be working 'something with computers'. To learn more about how and why I got into art, read this post. Read more...
