“Rikon” is a sci-fi and fantasy convention held annually in Rijeka, Croatia. The first convention was held back in 1997, so it has a longstanding tradition in Croatian fandom, and people from all over the country (and beyond) come to visit.
For all these years Rikon didn’t have a logo, nor any kind of branding strategy in place. In 2014, we’ve decided to rise the convention to a new level, and a complete rebranding project was in order. I designed the hand-lettered logo and created the entire branding for this event, including the branding guidelines, illustrated posters, flyers, social media graphics, and WordPress website. I continued designing promotional graphics until 2017.
To learn more about how I approached this challenging project, read the case study on my blog.
In the year 2020 Rikon was the host of the international sci-fi convention Eurocon. For this special event, which we named Futuricon, I returned to take the seat of the lead designer and created a new logo in the same style as the current one, and also illustrated and designed all the printed and digital graphics.
